Play Style Discussion: Octavia

So I'm sure we're all familiar with the micromanage'y "spam crouch and wait for ability timers" play style with Octavia, but I figured it was well worth asking: has anyone found any other playstyles that they really enjoy with her? Any other weird synergies that change up how you approach her (or her abilities)? Any interesting Helminth synergies that anyone has found? Looking specifically for less good and more just interesting kind of stuff.

Any input is welcome.

Honestly there's that one playstyle around her 3 where you can spam slide everywhere and focus mostly on melee (taking advantage of that stealth multiplier), but I'm partial to that kind of high-mobility melee play anyway and there are a lot of other frames that do that same thing but with less effort.

So... any thoughts?

Way back I remember my friend used her mallet and resonator in some high strength build that would just mow down enemies left and right since they synergize in attracting enemy attacks and then using them to multiply its damage output. I don't know what his exact build was or even if it would work now with all the changes and whatnot.

The only thing that comes to mind is not exactly truly interesting, more an effectiveness enhancement of the same ol' boring camping timer-babysitting playstyle. It's something that i wasn't able to make work on khora, but octavia's better energy eco and more static/predictable/energy efficient turbogank zones may be far better suited for it.

The idea is Helminth infused Rage, with Calm and Frenzy augment, as a Pseudo-Speeva. Speedier enemies that do more damage are by nature Mallet's favorite ting, and as they sprint to their death they will trigger the aug, spreading Rage's effect to enemies just outside Mallet's border, whereupon THOSE sprint to their deaths, lather rinse repeat. tbh it's really just adding another timer to babysit, but i'd imagine the kill rate is tasty, especially if you get the right positioning/tileset.

Alright, 100% I'm giving this a shot. Especially since Rage increases their damage taken AND their damage done, which means that there's probably a lot of lingering value in terms of the damage output of mallet. Works well with her build priorities, too.

I'd love to see how this holds up against something like Roar or whatever.

yarp, that was exactly the thought, double whammy of benefit since they run into mallet faster than charge it up faster on their way in.
in bugtesting news, it appears the mirror doesn't reflect edits. nvm, it just updated. it'd be worth to check if it did that because the thread itself fully updated with an additional reply (yours), or if there's some sort of regular check in.
